Nuts for Scouting Fundraiser

E-mail Print PDF
Still time to take action on this quality Spring Fundraiser.  Boys join Scouting for the Outing! How they get to participate can also be a learning tool. When we teach the boys to PAY THEIR OWN WAY we do more than just help them financially.

Earn 35% commission that you keep up front by doing a take order process with the Nuts for Scouting.  Order by containers. Orders are to be placed by March 12th. Take Order forms are available on the website www.longhorn.org or thru the Service Centers in Hurst and Waco.  There will soon be an order form and instructions on the website as well as sent out via the district emails.

Help all the boys to go to the camps of their choice.

Venturing Age Change

E-mail Print PDF

The National Executive Board recently approved a resolution to change the eligibility requirements for Venturing to ensure consistency among Venturing, high-adventure bases, and other core programs.

The current age and grade eligibility requirement for participation in the Venturing program is 14 years of age and completion of the eighth grade.

Effective May 1, 2010, the minimum age requirement will be changed to 14 years of age, or 13 years of age and completion of the eighth grade. The maximum age for participation remains under 21 years of age.

In support of this change, a list of frequently asked questions is posted at www.scouting.org/venturing.

2010 Boy Scout Requirements Changes

E-mail Print PDF

A new 12th edition of the Boy Scout Handbook was issued in the summer of 2009. That book contained new requirements for each rank which took effect on January 1, 2010.  If a Scout has started work toward a rank before January 1, 2010, using requirements that were current before January 1, 2010, he may complete that rank only using the old requirements. Any progress toward a rank that is begun after January 1, 2010, must use the requirements as they are presented in the Boy Scout Handbook or in Boy Scout Requirements book.

This file contains a list of requirement changes for each rank: icon 2010 Boy Scout Requirement Changes
